Helen Wiley is Disaster Preparedness Program Director at SBP, a national disaster resilience nonprofit organization. Her expertise is in disaster insurance and risk communication. Helen’s domestic and international policy experience in disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation issues has grounded her belief in the criticality of better preparing vulnerable households and communities pre-disaster to improve recovery outcomes. Prior to coming to SBP, Helen worked at the Wharton Risk Center at the University of Pennsylvania as Assistant Director of Research and Policy, where she managed the Center’s Policy Incubator projects, which supported novel approaches for increasing resilience through workable on-the-ground solutions with public sector partners. She has also worked on international climate and disaster risk reduction projects at the German Development Institute (DIE) and at the Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS). Helen holds a B.A. in Environmental Policy from Washington University in St. Louis; her M.Sc. in Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security was administered jointly by the United Nations University and the University of Bonn, Germany.
David Trask, National Director, ARC Facilities, is a keynote speaker, author, and thought Leader in the facilities management industry. David focuses on helping hospitals, universities, K-12 districts, and other organizations leverage innovative technology to drive efficiency in the facilities management industry through thought leadership and advocacy. Trask has presented at numerous facilities, associations, and conferences, including IFMA, ASHE, APPA, and NFMT as well as regional events such as AAHE, HISHE and regional IFMA chapter conferences. Most recently, David was selected to join the Education Program Committee for IFMA World Workplace 2023 and is also an Advisory Board Member for Facilithon. David is outspoken about the urgent need to minimize the impacts of facility team retirements through seamless and comprehensive succession planning.
